Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO or the Company) are advising motorists to travel with caution along Middle Road Southampton, near Heron Bay Primary School as traffic controls are currently in place.
BELCO experienced a fault to an underground transmission line late last night. BELCO crews began fault-finding activities in earnest today in order to repair the fault as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
As the fault is associated with underground cables, excavators are required to access them so that repairs can be made. Traffic controls will remain in place until all repair works are completed, and the cable is returned to service.
Motorists are asked to avoid this section on Middle Road, Southampton and to use alternative routes for the duration of this trench work.
The transmission cables serve as the backbone of the grid and BELCO is continuing to work to replace them, this represents a critical step in moving Bermuda towards a sustainable energy future. We know that works that impact traffic flow are inconvenient, and we thank our valued customers for their patience and understanding.
