Scholarships

Llewellyn Vorley Engineering Scholarship

 

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise the recipient’s desire to further their knowledge in the engineering fields and to provide an opportunity for knowledge and experience to be shared within the Company and in the wider community. The Scholarship Selection Committee’s view is to increase the number of qualified Bermudian Engineers participating in the occupational market and ensure assistance for recognised individuals’ educational endeavours. This is a four year scholarship award in the amount of $25,000 per annum. Upon graduation, the selected candidate will be required to become a BELCO employee for a period of three (3) years, pending availability of a suitable position.

BELCO STEM Education Awards

 

BELCO STEM Education Awards for academic studies leading to the award of an undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering and math (“STEM”), the number of which will be at the discretion of the Committee and will: range in value between $2,500 and $20,000 as determined by the Committee; be for a first degree; be granted for one academic year only; be based on provisional acceptance or notification thereof to an accredited educational institution.

A.T. Oughton Post Graduate Business & Finance Scholarship

In accordance with the Liberty Group’s vision, mission, values and stewardship of BELCO: the objective of this Scholarship is to increase the number of qualified Bermudians in the business or finance fields (Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology), particularly as this pertains to BELCO’s leadership requirements, so that we may always meet our commitments and fulfill our vision to be Bermuda’s trusted, preferred provider of energy and infrastructure solutions. The scholarship is valued up to $25,000.00 for one year. The scholarship will be granted to a suitable candidate studying for a graduate degree in a business or finance discipline. Upon graduation, the selected candidate will be required to become a BELCO employee for a period of one (1) year, pending availability of a suitable position.

C. Eugene Cox Post Graduate Environmental Studies, Sustainability & Development Scholarship

The scholarship is valued up to $25,000.00 for one year. In accordance with the Liberty Group’s vision, mission, values and stewardship of BELCO: the objective of this Scholarship is to increase the number of qualified Bermudian Engineers so that we may always meet our commitments and continue to provide a reliable service to our community. The scholarship will be granted to a suitable candidate studying for a graduate degree in Renewable Energy, Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental Studies and Information Technology, related discipline. Upon graduation, the selected candidate will be required to become a BELCO employee for a period of one (1) year, pending availability of a suitable position.
