Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) experienced a temporary loss of generation capacity late this afternoon which caused outages across the island. BELCO has begun to restore power to customers affected by the outage. Work will continue until all customers have had power restored which is expected to be completed this evening.
BELCO President Wayne Caines said: “First and foremost, let me apologise to our valued customers for this unexpected loss of power. Once we experienced the generation loss, our crews immediately got to work to restore power to customers as quickly, safely and as efficiently as possible. I ask for the public’s patience as we continue our restoration efforts and we will continue to provide updates until every customer is restored.”
